Tys and the Missus are heading toward retirement, planning to spend it in their home in Tuine, Sandton, The instructions were that Mrs Tys no longer wants to go down on her knees and dig in the back of the kitchen cupboards for something she needs. They also didn't want to spend the price of a luxury car on the kitchen units.

I drew up the plan, putting as many drawers on the bottom as possible. In fact only one cabinet standing on the floor has no drawers, but the corner below the microwave unit just wasn't going to work with corner drawers.

Other changes were moving the sink and making space for a dishwasher, The sink was moved to below the window and the dishwasher was placed around the corner from it where the sink used to be. The plumbing was not much of a challenge, but while doing it we made some changes on the external waste pipe so the washing machine could also drain.

The installation took 9 days and the budget was around R 45 000.
